The simplest version of a welcome that works — a notebook and a pen that land on the new hire's desk on day one and stay there all year. The handloom diary becomes their first meeting notebook, the bamboo pen becomes the one they actually reach for. No clutter, no novelty items, just two things they will use every workday and remember where they came from.
The diary in this kit is bound in handloom fabric woven on pit looms by artisan families across Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Handloom production is slower than power-loom by a factor of ten, but it produces a texture and irregularity that no machine can replicate — each diary cover is subtly unique.
The bamboo pen is shaped and sanded by hand in small workshops. Bamboo reaches maturity in 3-5 years without pesticides or replanting, making it one of the few writing instruments with a genuinely low environmental footprint.
